Austin, Texas----On January 8th, 2008, artists converged at the MusicFest at Steamboat to honor Robert Earl Keen, performing interpretations of Keen’s influential material at the popular festival’s annual Tribute to a Legend gala. The evening’s stunning performances were captured and the resulting recordings compiled to create LIVE IS GOOD, slated for release by Right Avenue Records this coming fall 2008.

The release of the double disc LIVE IS GOOD is unprecedented, featuring 23 live acoustic tracks to comprise the first-ever tribute to the legendary Texas-based songsmith, plus an electric set by Robert Earl Keen and the Robert Earl Keen Band. The release also marks the first ever recording to be officially released from the MusicFest at Steamboat, and in keeping with the festival’s genuine music philosophy, impressively utilizes only the original, organic recordings without overdubs or studio enhancements.

In a paramount artist lineup, LIVE IS GOOD is the first time that these particular artists have come together on one album. A full band electric concert by Robert Earl Keen and band members Rich Brotherton, Bill Whitbeck, Marty Muse, Tom Van Schaik, plus the standout banjo talents of Danny Barnes tops off an evening of acoustic tribute performances by Cody Canada, Cory Morrow, Chris Knight, Jason Boland, Stoney LaRue, Bonnie Bishop, Reckless Kelly, Wade Bowen, Max Stalling, Micky, Gary, and Muzzie Braun, Walt Wilkins, Randy Rogers, Roger Creager, Matt Powell, Brandon Rhyder, Dub Miller, Doug Moreland, Matt Skinner, Kathleen Braun, Josh Grider, Darren Kozelsky, and Rich O’Toole.

LIVE IS GOOD is truly a one-of-a-kind release that documents a historical night of music, with a portion of its proceeds will aptly benefit The Center for Texas Music History.
